Building Melbourne:
Princes Bridge, is one the construction which was proposed to build on 22nd April 1840, a company was assigned to build a bridge across the Yarra River despite controversy among counselor members taken place for a different location while planning for it. However, it was built as finalized.

First land sale in Melbourne city:
It was on 1st Jun 1836, Governor Bourke authorized to sell first land (Crown) in Melbourne city with subdivided in to twenty allotments which administrated by Robert Hoddle, and it was said to purchaser that it has to be built the home within 2 years. Apart from highest price paid for the land in different area, but the lowest price paid for the land in particular area of Melbourne become ‘Golden Mile’ called highest priced real estate within short of span.

Second land sale in Melbourne city:
Just five months after the first land sale for the residence / commercial purpose, in Nov 1836, the second land sale taken place. Again within short time, the land value increased in Melbourne city, specially for North West corner of Swanston street and Flinders street which paid by John Batman.

As per survey during that period, once the residents used to think about the location as merely a part of town or village since the province looks like home here and there with few houses, tents and sheds scattered in one or two. The traffic has to be suspended due to chain of waterlog, shallow gullies and ruts on the street.

Melbourne was a province of New South Wales since the beginning. Later on, Melbourne became incorporated town in 12th Aug 1842 with four wards. Andrew Russell was elected as First Alderman for six years term, Henry Condell was elected as first Mayor of Melbourne, and Charles King selected as Town Clerk in Dec 1842.

Melbourne Town Hall was completed to build in 1870 despite few issues upon its construction including labor shortage and proposal of a different location after finalization etc. It was built and officially opened during 9th Aug 1870 by his Excellency Governor of Victoria Lord Viscount Canterbury.

Entertainment in Melbourne:
The Regent Theater was first opened in 1929 incorporated with Plaza, now it is Sunset Boulevard since 1997 as it was under legal issue with MCC and other controversy earlier.

Now, we got to go with various mode of entertainments in Melbourne, Australia and unlike those days just with movie/film and circus etc.

Gold discovery effect in Melbourne city:
The discovery of Gold in Victoria during 1850s had a remarkable effect on the growth of Melbourne city; it was looking like a desert due to people leaving from Melbourne and tried to settle down in Victoria. Many foreigners used to arrive by sea and some of them happy and few of them disappointed on Gold business and returned back. The same story for a different natural source might happen over there.

  1. Loved the article and its not easy to capture a city in few words, but you nailed it bro!!

For me, I would love to take a ride in Hot Air Balloon. As Tanmay and Rohan explained their experience...I am just thrilled enough and would love to propose my wife second time since first one was not as different as this one. She would certainly say yes with a smile so no question of awkwardness ;)

  3. Wonderful post and interesting videos that make me feel that
Melbourne invites the eternal romantic in me to hold hands with my beloved and go see the Twelve Apostles .Go on long drives on the great ocean road. In the middle of nowhere in a vineyard spread a table and enjoy a meal and a glass of wine with my dear one. Enjoy the sunsets holding hands and do lots of shopping at the Queen Victoria Market and see all the graffiti being created at the hosier lane.
Great Post and interesting videos watching them I am sure to visit Sovereign Hill for spending some time in the era gone by. The lure of gold and panning for some nuggets is a temptation that is too much to resist. After I have found the gold I am bound to celebrate it with some wine so I will visit the vineyards and enjoy some great wine from the Yarra region .Visit the Pannys Phillip Island Chocolate Factory and have my fill with this yummy delight.

  4. I would like to visit the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) which is located in Yarra Park. Cricket has fancied me since childhood. I still remember those days when the elders in my neighbourhood used to start shouting and hunting for us the moment the cricket ball hit by me broke one of their window panes. Running away from them was even more exciting than playing cricket itself.

I used to follow every cricket match played by India religiously and used to analyse and discuss it with friends and siblings for days and months. Being such an enthusiastic fan of cricket, visiting one of the world’s largest cricket stadiums is one of my dreams.

The thought of being seated amongst 95,000 other fans of cricket and cheering the players itself sounds exciting to me. Such large cricket stadiums are one of the ways to explore how much the passion for cricket has penetrated among the people of the world. MCG is located in Yarra Park, which also has many other sporting fields. This would allow me to explore not just cricket, but also many other games.

  5. I would love to visit the MCG and witness the action of Boxing test match live from the stands. It is one of my dreams to watch an International Test match between India and Australia.
Victoria Market is also one of the place I would love to explore. The markets are full of hustle and bustle and being an Indian I have that affinity for the Bazaar crowd and its sounds.

Thanks for sharing the information about the place, would definitely plan to visit the place soon.

  6. Yarra Valley Wineyard of course. Since 1992 Yarra winery tours are being organized in a professional way. Loads of wine tastings and the best food. The winery makes you fall in love with the beautiful way of stacking the wine bottles. I would want to visit this because of my love for old wine and also because the best of the wine is served here. The whole of Melbourne has adorable places but this one would surely attract me more than once in my visit and after seeing Tanmay and Rohans visit I am eager to go there soon…. :)
